Andrew’s Misplaced Trust

Get to know Andrew

Meet Andrew. He’s a very smart kid and spends most of his time either at school, or in his room. He seems to get in trouble a lot, but he’s not really sure why. His mom doesn’t like him, so she sends him to his room the moment he comes home.

Andrew loves his daddy. He likes to do things with him and his daddy even built him his own darkroom so he can explore his love of photography.

Andrew has a best friend Kerry, who likes to go on adventures with him when they can escape Andrew’s punishment at home.

Andrew loves his books and likes to read, so punishment in his room isn’t so bad.

One of Andrew’s only friends is Kerry. He and Andrew go ride bikes, take pictures and play on the swing set and climb trees.

Kerry and his family moved away suddenly.

Andrew loved playing soccer. It let him get his energy out and he was actually pretty good. Unfortunately his mom didn’t think he needed cleats to play and was frustrated when he kept slipping and falling down.

Andrew’s dad decided he would take him to find some cleats. They met Paul at the sporting goods store who was very helpful.

Paul tracked down the appropriate size cleats and a few other pieces of Andrew’s wardrobe to make his playing more fun.

Paul became a good friend and often came over to Kent’s poker games and played poker and stayed to play with Andrew and Kerry after the games were over.

Paul

Don was another help to Andrew. He helped Kent build the darkroom for Andrew to use.

He worked at the hardware store and taught some of the kid classes out front. Kent took Andrew to these classes and soon befriended Don.

Don helped with a number of projects at the Owens household and was also a regular at the poker games.

Life was carefree and fun as long as Andrew didn’t piss off his mom.

His dad always made up for her strange behavior.

Father and son had a great loving bond. Andrew worshiped his daddy and trusted him completely.

His daddy never hurt him and always made sure he had fun and was the center of attention when his friends came over to play poker.

Poker nights were a lot of fun.

Mom would go out with her friends and it was just Andrew, Kerry and his daddy’s friends.

Once the games were over and the men went home, his daddy always praised him for being such a good boy. Something his mom would never do.

One night daddy had too much to drink.

After the poker game, he got rough with Andrew.

Andrew didn’t know what came over his daddy but he knew he needed to get away for a while.

He grabbed a few things and hopped on a bus. He rode it until it stopped in the old part of town.

His first place of refuge was at a laundromat in the old part of town.

There he met Grandma, a lady that looked out for several homeless boys and what would soon become his best friend Ricky.

Grandma has a big heart and she brings the street boys cookies. She talks to them and hopes that she can get them to go back home or get help.

Her heart is in the right place and it’s too bad she can’t do more for them.

Andrew and his friend Ricky were living in an abandoned warehouse when it suddenly exploded. The boys had to be rescued and both were hurt very seriously.

Ricky had been injured before the boys climbed up to the rooms they were staying in. Thankfully both boys survived the fire.

The drug dealers that had set up a meth lab on the ground floor were not as lucky.
